00:03 dbsx rabeeh: re armhf. When running a benchmark I noted that the vfpv3 vfpv3d16 provided improved speed on some integer ops. do we get the benefit of this in the drivers
00:03 dbsx ?
00:26 janne dbsx: what kind of benchmark and what did you compare. hardfp is not really expected to be noticeable faster on armv7-a
00:32 dbsx janne: I have been shuffling micro sd cards trying to find it. too many boxes and too many sd cards. my memory says that 16bit mul was seriously better
05:46 dbsx janne: the answer is lmbench
15:43 dung jnettlet, from the link you've posted I get to your work on video. Please describe how you decode through gstreamer. I decode SD videos with ffmpeg, w/o hardware acceleration ~50% CPU. Did you play HD? Which GStreamer decoder?
15:45 jnettlet dung, I have enhanced a custom gstreamer plugin that was originally written by Marvell. It uses the vmeta engine to decode video, and then a custom videosink to use xvideo to put it on the screen with minimal copies. We can play 720p video at about 30% cpu
15:50 dung On an OLPC? Isn't it PC, no hardfp at all?
15:52 dung Where can I view the plugin?
15:57 jnettlet dung, the OLPC XO 1.75 used a Marvell Armada 610, very similar to the 510 in the Cubox
15:59 jnettlet dung, there is no public repo yet. You can expand the src.rpm from here. http://dev.laptop.org/~jnettlet/vmeta/
15:59 jnettlet that is actually an older release. The repo should go up by the end of this month. Just finishing approvals for everything
16:02 dung Nice, just got the specs. Thank you.
16:02 jnettlet dung, those are hardfp binaries that should work on most distros from the past year.
16:03 jnettlet oh you will also need my dovefb xorg driver that will get published this weekend.
16:03 jnettlet that is the old driver with enhancements not my new KMS driver
16:08 dung so it will be an option for Cubox to replace the propriatary marvell with propriatary olpc?
16:09 jnettlet This is proprietary Marvell as well, just updated and optimized by me to work better as a desktop X driver
16:11 jnettlet dung, there are pieces that are Marvell and will stay that way. The pieces that wrap around it by OLPC will be OSS.
16:12 jnettlet I am working on getting source for the directfb driver to be released by Vivante as OSS. The had originally promised it to use over a year ago, but things have fallen by the way side.
20:34 niietzshe hello everyone, anyone around?

20:47 niietzshe I'm just cooking dinner, then afterwards I'm going to try the serial port
20:47 niietzshe any suggestions on what I should be looking for to see if there is a hardware or software problem?
20:54 niietzshe I'm hoping that it's not bricked because I've had to pay import tax and don't want to have to pay it again for a return...
21:31 niietzshe sorry got logged out
21:31 niietzshe any advice on what to do with an apparently dead cubox
21:31 niietzshe no lights or activity

21:44 niietzshe just seems completely dead to me
21:55 niietzshe ok plug seems to be dead according to my multimeter
21:58 niietzshe tried with another plug thats working
