10:11 | Riso | Hello CuBox fans |
10:11 | Riso | I am considering it however I have 2 things... According to youtube lab testing it consumes only 0.5mA ~ has anyone managed to power it via Samsung TV USB port? via http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB2TYPEM-Barrel-Power-Cable/dp/B003MQO96U |
10:16 | frilled | 0.5A@5V, not mA :) That would be too cool .-) |
10:37 | Riso | sorry that was a typo |
10:37 | Riso | frilled: any thoughts on that? |
10:41 | Riso | my 2nd q is regarding the crypto offloading... As per http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=CuBox#Cryptographic_Engines_and_Security_Accelerator_.28CESA.29 several encryption algorithms are offloaded by the cryptographic engines and the security accelerator which is to reduce CPU packet processing |
10:41 | Riso | has anyone tested SSL performance for instance? idea is to stream video over ssl |
10:42 | frilled | Nope. But .5A is USB spec, so it SHOULD work unless the device isn't really USB compliant. Ask rabeeh about the CuBox spec (max power draw), but I am quite sure it will suck up more than .5A on higher workloads. |
10:43 | frilled | So, I'd say it's not guaranteed and you'd be better off with a dedicated power supply. |
10:44 | frilled | can't say anything about ssl benchmarking. |
10:44 | dv505 | the power supply is 2A@5V. Those extra amps are there to power USB devices |
10:44 | Riso | would anyone be willing to test ssl for me on xbmc? i can provide a URL |
10:45 | dv505 | .5A is probably without any attached devices |
10:45 | _rmk_ | dv505: ever watched the current consumption of a platform while it boots? |
10:45 | Riso | dv505: I do not plan to power ANY usb devices.. connectivity will be via onboard NIC - only output will be HDMI |
10:46 | Riso | As per (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twEoMYEJls4) it does not use more than 0.5 |
10:46 | _rmk_ | dv505: take a look at the graphs in http://www.arm.linux.org.uk/developer/build/result.php&type=boot&idx=907 and http://www.arm.linux.org.uk/developer/build/result.php&type=boot&idx=908 |
10:47 | Riso | The requested URL /developer/build/result.php&type=boot&idx=908 was not found on this server. |
10:47 | _rmk_ | err, replace the first & with a ? |
10:48 | _rmk_ | that what comes from manually having to stich it back together |
10:50 | Riso | has anyone tested BR rip streamed with network? |
10:50 | _rmk_ | I really should put the cubox on that some day |
10:51 | _rmk_ | and I really ought to store the graphs rather than regenerating them needlessly |
10:58 | Riso | are there any plans/roadmap for nextgen CuBox? with a stronger CPU? |
