01:21 Tenkawa greetings all
01:22 cbxbiker61 hi
01:22 Tenkawa whats new?
01:22 cbxbiker61 my 4 cubox-i's are on their way, after i reminded solid-run they got right on it
01:23 Tenkawa still trying to figure the wifi situation for 3.14 over here
01:23 cbxbiker61 has the correct code been integrated into 3.14? you might want to look at the code in 3.10 and go from there
01:24 Tenkawa it seems to be a firmware issue
01:25 cbxbiker61 like a missing external blob?
01:25 Tenkawa or referencing it wromg yes
01:25 Tenkawa er wromg
01:25 Tenkawa euuuggh wrong
01:26 cbxbiker61 any unusual messages in the system log?
01:27 Tenkawa no.. none at all like its not even looking for it
01:27 Tenkawa hmmm... may have found something
01:28 Tenkawa maybe not heheh
01:29 Tenkawa hmm
01:30 coin3d are you planning on running headless?
01:31 Tenkawa yes
01:31 Tenkawa it currently is.. ethernet plugged atm
01:32 Tenkawa is the brcm chip the fmac or smac on the cubox-i?
01:32 coin3d would you like to benchmark that ethernet connection for me? :D
01:33 Tenkawa my setup is not conducive to benchmarking heh
01:34 Tenkawa oh well. something to look at tomorrow.. cheers all
09:12 DHowett I'm going to assume that a 12v center-positive adapter would cause a cubox pro to not work anymore
09:12 DHowett and if so, goddammit
09:17 jnettlet DHowett, yes
09:17 DHowett that is fairly depressing, but fully understandable.
09:17 DHowett (and due to its lack of continued existence, I can't simply get a new one :()
09:18 jnettlet DHowett, how good are you at taking about electronics?
09:19 DHowett jnettlet: fairly alright
09:19 jnettlet DHowett, write to their support/sales channel. They may allow you to just buy the microsom which just snaps into the bottom that has the SOC and DDR
09:19 jnettlet that is generally the part that fries when over-powered
09:20 DHowett jnettlet: that is wonderful. thank you
09:20 jnettlet DHowett, I do not work for SolidRun and I am not sure about what their policies will be.
09:20 DHowet 09:20 * DHowett nods
09:20 DHowett understood
09:20 jnettlet but I know they are using the same microsom in the hummingboard and the swap out is fairly straightforward.
09:36 DHowett I suppose in the meantime, i might as well consider x86/mini-itx boards
09:37 jnettlet well it is generally a trade-off between power usage and compatibility. ARM Linux support has come a long way but x86 has definitely been at it a lot longer.
09:38 jnettlet The NUC computers are interesting but still 2-3 times the price, and use 2-3 times the power
09:38 DHowett that's true
09:38 jnettlet most people don't care, but to me using as little power as possible is important moving into the future
09:38 DHowett I really enjoy the low power usage and fanless here. The form factor can literally not be beaten, especially given the 510 inside it
09:38 DHowett yeah, fair point
14:31 edent Afternoon all. Anyone know if the Cubox (original) can support .ogg playback?
14:32 cbxbiker61 well, yeah
14:33 edent cbxbiker61 whenever I try with GeeXboX, I don't get any sound. FLAC & MP3 work fine.
14:34 cbxbiker61 must be a geexbox issue with get ogg decoder library
14:35 cbxbiker61 if i think wayyyy back, their may have been an issue with the way the library was built, but that was a long time ago
14:35 edent Ah, ok. I'll try sticking Debian on there an see whether it works. Any idea what the best way to report issues to the distro maintainer is?
14:36 cbxbiker61 no, i use my own code, so i just fix it immediately when i find something doesn't work
14:36 edent Ok, thanks :-)
