03:12 | iasj | Hello, is that possible to install arch linux on cubox? |
03:20 | mhoney | yup |
03:20 | mhoney | google for it, there is a howto |
03:27 | iasj | Thanks mhoney, that is all want to know. |
03:32 | kurt_ | hi... I'm trying to get the wifi brcm 4330 to work with the wiki-posted version of ubuntu. Could anyone help me? |
03:33 | mhoney | what distro are you using kurt_? |
03:33 | kurt_ | hello? |
03:34 | kurt_ | The one on the wiki page Ubuntu 12 |
03:34 | mhoney | if you type iwconfig, does it show wlan0? |
03:34 | kurt_ | Linux linaro-ubuntu-desktop 3.0.35-gbe699c6-dirty #11 SMP PREEMPT Tue Jan 21 20:51:32 IST 2014 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux |
03:35 | kurt_ | root@linaro-ubuntu-desktop:~# iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. root@linaro-ubuntu-desktop:~# |
03:35 | mhoney | bummer... it is installed in the debian jessie image |
03:35 | kurt_ | I installed from this site: http://imx.solid-run.com/wiki/index.php?title=Debian_and_derivatives |
03:35 | mhoney | i've never tried the linaro image, but there is a pretty good tutorial on youtube for installing the kernel modules |
03:36 | kurt_ | I tried this video... didn't even come close to working... I don't get the dmesg concerning brcm |
03:36 | mhoney | the debian image from that site is what I use and it had the needed driver installed already. I just had to configure /etc/network/interfaces |
03:36 | kurt_ | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppSOpp4Yl8Y |
03:37 | kurt_ | I installed both the bins and txt's for both the brcm 4329 and 4330 |
03:38 | kurt_ | I put them in the /lib/firmware/brcm directory |
03:38 | mhoney | I'd like to help, but im a bit of linux newb myself |
03:38 | kurt_ | But there's obviously something missing somehow |
03:38 | kurt_ | Have you found any other videos? |
03:38 | mhoney | sec i look |
03:39 | mhoney | do you have the i4? |
03:39 | kurt_ | I really don't want to reflash my mmc with Debian. Yes, i4pro |
03:42 | mhoney | the debian image has the wifi and accelerated vivante drivers installed. it's also newer packages than the ubuntu |
03:42 | kurt_ | yes. thanks. Well, I appreciate you talking to me. I've been posting to their forum but had some free time tonight, so I thought I'd try the IRC channel. |
03:43 | kurt_ | Thanks for responding. |
03:43 | mhoney | http://volumio.org/forum/solved-wifi-cubox-t1117.html |
03:43 | mhoney | that might help you fix it |
03:44 | mhoney | looks like that kernel will work with the bcrm drivers |
03:45 | kurt_ | well, thanks. That will require me to burn the flash drive, and it's not clear whether it's actually ubuntu |
03:45 | kurt_ | I'm not sure what Volumio even is. |
03:45 | mhoney | its a cool mp3 player thats web driven |
03:46 | kurt_ | I appreciate you sending a link. I've been googling it for a while now. |
03:46 | kurt_ | I think I need to just learn how to compile a kernel myself and do it all on my own, support being what it is. |
03:46 | kurt_ | Will be a long diversion. |
03:47 | mhoney | yah, I need to learn that myself |
03:47 | kurt_ | well, have a nice day. If I don't find anything for a while, I'll have to go the 'compile my own kernel' way, I suppose. |
03:47 | kurt_ | bye |
03:47 | mhoney | you too |
03:47 | mhoney | bye |
15:05 | mhoney | morning |
15:12 | rabeeh | mhoney: hi |
15:12 | mhoney | morning rabeeh |
16:48 | Keizer | jenkins101: Cubox FTW |
20:49 | jmontleon | rabeeh, jnettlet any idea if there is a new config option with 3.16-rc1 that is required to get HDMI output? The same config that I have been using for 3.14.x and 3.15.x is resulting in a kernel that doesn't produce hdmi output with 3.16 |
20:56 | jnettlet | jmontleon, sounds like a regression. I haven't tested 3.16-rc1 yet |
21:00 | jmontleon | ya - I was hoping it was just something I was doing wrong, but I diffed the .config after running make oldnoconfig and didn't see anything obvious. also looked over rmk's patch and nothing stood out there for config options for me either |
21:04 | jnettlet | jmontleon, just a straight hdmi connection? no dvi adapters or such? |
21:04 | jmontleon | correct |
21:04 | jnettlet | this is a Cubox i4p? |
21:05 | jmontleon | correct |
21:05 | jmontleon | I can mess with it - I just thought there might be something simple :) |
21:07 | jnettlet | rmk says his is working fine. |
21:12 | Keizer | Are you using Gentoo? |
21:15 | jmontleon | jnettlet, cool - I'm using his patches, as usual. I'll play with it. With a little luck I can figure it out |
21:16 | jmontleon | Keizer, fedora in my case, if you were asking me |
21:19 | Keizer | Ok was wondering |
21:19 | jnettlet | you are doing a cold boot right? |
21:19 | Keizer | I want to start using my Cubox with Archlinux |
21:22 | jmontleon | jnettlet, yes. think I did - building a new kernel; think ipuv3 moved from staging and the config option changed; wonder if that could be it? |
21:23 | jmontleon | Keizer, if you check the cubox-i forums I think people have gotten Arch working |
21:24 | Keizer | Yeah I just need to get a power adapter now |
22:06 | schribl | I installed xbmc on my i4pro. It started and after some time the system freezed. Now xbmc does not show any output and when I try to stop the service the system freezes. Also the xbmc.bin uses around 70% of one CPU. The folder .xbmc is also not recreated when deleted. Reinstall does not change anything. |
22:07 | schribl | Ah my system is Arch Linux :) |
22:58 | mhoney | Hi my name is Marc and my system is Debian |
22:59 | mhoney | Feels kinda like an AA meeting ;) |
23:02 | malte | :) |
23:10 | kgp | You are :P |
23:16 | mhoney | Arm Addicts Anonymous? |
23:31 | kgp | ltst :) |
